Catalyzing Diverse and Small Businesses Across Southwestern Pennsylvania
North Side Industrial Development Company, doing business as Riverside Center for Innovation (RCI), is dedicated to fostering a supportive environment where the region’s diverse entrepreneurs and small businesses can thrive. RCI delivers direct services to small businesses, entrepreneurs, neighborhoods, and communities, acting as an innovative, resource-rich, and sustainable economic engine. Through incubation support, training, creative strategies, and Brownfield redevelopment, RCI helps strengthen the economic vitality of the region for all who live and work here.
RCI is playing a key role in advancing Pittsburgh from a “smart” city to a globally recognized “intelligent” city. While “smart” cities excel in integrated technology (IoT), transportation systems, and climate resilience, they often fall short in eliminating poverty. RCI’s programming aims to bridge that gap—building an “intelligent city” that is diverse, human-centered, racially equitable, and designed to create prosperity for everyone.
